Dale Lewis, principal of Petoskey Central Elementary School for the past 18 years, is one of those hands-on principals who knows each child by name.
Retiring after more than 30 years, Lewis recalls his initial interest in environmental science and zoology changed to education while at Michigan State University in the 1970s.
After volunteering at an inner city school in Lansing, he discovered his true passion.

Global resort and casino property developer, Rotate Black, just completed purchase of the gaming vessel “The Big Easy.”
The Petoskey company bought the 240-foot gaming vessel from Harrah’’s Entertainment. It’’s 30,000 square feet of gaming space and recently renovated restaurants are expected to create more than 450 new jobs, as the company plans to operate 825 slot machines and 24 table games onboard.
The initial location for the gaming vessel is in the Mississippi Gulf Coast, with operations starting December 2010, provided that final gaming approval is granted.

‘In a bid to cover the estimated $20,000 expenses to support the fireworks show, live entertainment and 4th July parade, the Stars & Stripes Committee has begun fundraising efforts.
Thankfully, Odawa Casino Resort chipped in $5,000, and the Visitors” Bureau added $500.
The remaining $14,500 ill most likely come from local business owners, so be sure to visit them and buy l0cally.
